DnA_DESIGN and ART at CIGE 2009
CIGE 2009 is pleased to announce an incorporation of a new special project into the CIGE 2009 portfolio. DnA_Design and ART will present the work of international designers and architects.
For its inaugural installation, CIGE 2009 has invited the British designer Max Lamb to showcase his recent work. The artist is known to create site specific work that walks the fine line between industrial production and artistic creation. He has gained international acclaim through his work with stone-furniture from Hebei quarries. The artist is co hosted by Maria Cristine Didero ( design professional and independent curator) and Alexander von Vegasack ( director of Vitra design Museum, Germany). His project is sponsored by Johnson Trading Gallery and CIGE.
As an addition to the new DnA_Design and ART project, the Thai designer Anon Pairot will showcase his furniture at the fair booth of the Vitra Design Museum/Domaine de Boisbuchet. The German design museum will also host a series of summer workshops, which will be run by established designers like the Campana Brothers.
Don't miss the special presentation on the reception of Asian art in Europe by the director of the Vitra Design Museum, Alexander von Vegasack on April 16, 2009.
The Vitra Design Museum is one of the official partners of the DnA_DESIGN and ART project and the CIGE 2009.
Maria Cristina Didero is a freelance journalist, curator and official representative of the Vitra Design Museum.
Alexander von Vegesack is the founding director of the Vitra Design Museum. Mr. von Vegasack established the international workshop site Domaine de Boisbuchet, where in collaboration with the Centre Georges Pompidou annual summer workshops are held.
